Daredevil (Netflix)

Series and Movies

Matt Murdock doesn’t kill the bad guys he chases. But the imminent threat looming over the city he loves, puts his resolve in jeopardy.

Starring Charlie Cox as the Devil of Hell’s kitchen, the series is adapted from Marvel comics.

Genre: Vigilante, Crime

Summary: The son of a failed boxer loses eyesight from a chemical spill in his youth, but is instead gifted with heightened senses. He grows up to become a lawyer and starts a firm in Hell’s kitchen, New York, with his best friend from college. At night, he helps people in trouble, within the city using his abilities. Though the firm is not a success at first, he does pro bono work to help the needy which leads him criminals who are wrecking his city. The plot transpires with not just heroics, but also the conflicting thoughts of the Vigilante and the Lawyer.

Raised a Catholic, Matt goes to the confessionals regularly, though technically his “sins” were saving people. He wants to protect his friends from the danger his other life poses, but the secrecy creates a gap between them.

No part of this story is an inconceivable concept, which makes the series more relatable and nail biting.

Foggy Nelson, his best friend, delivers us quirky wit. Whereas, Karen Page, his office assistant, is a strong independent and inquisitive woman, not without the required drama. The Kingpin’s backstory highlights that Criminal minds are born from circumstances.
